How we came up with the name GiBoBriKi-Joy
It was difficult to be original, because many names we liked were already taken. So I just took the names of our cats and shuffled the letters and that’s how we got GiBoBriKi-Joy:
Gi = Gizmo
Bo = Boris
Bri = Britta
Ki = Kitty
Joy = Alexa Joy
At least it’s original
So, since September 2004 our cattery GiBoBriKi-Joy became a fact.
About us!
We are Arie and Joan from Amersfoort, The Netherlands. We are animal lovers. We have dogs, and cats, Watching them grow brings us so much pleasure.
I have always had cats. My first cat was Tommy, a beautiful red plain home cat. He was sweet and caring and knew exactly where to find all the good snacks. He lived 15 years before he became very ill and I had to put him to sleep. That was 3 years ago and I still miss him every day.
While we still had Tommy, we got another plain home cat, called Mickey, who was awfully shy and not very socialized. But to us she was really sweet. When we startet getting more pets, Mickey didn’t feel comfortable with us anymore and started visiting the neighbours. After a while she just decided to stay with them and had a great life until she got hit by a car last summer and passed away.
Then we got Kitty and we wanted to start breeding litters in a responsible way, so the choice to start a cattery was then easily made. The British shorthair has such sweet personalities. That’s what truly attracted me to them. They are sometimes a little ambiguous, but always happy.
The Maine Coon is a very uncomplicated, friendly and happy cat. That’s why we decided to have one. We chose Alexa-Joy because of her sweet character and nice colours. She is friendly and tolerant with other animals in the house.
Then we saw a picture on the internet of a fluffy kitten, who originated from 2 shorthair British cats. It hit us like a bomb! We fell in love with her at first sight and wanted to take her into our home. In Belgium they are named Britannica and in The Netherlands: Lowlander.
Britta turned out to be a sweetheart and loving cat. She is a joy to us. I feel it’s unfortunately that this breed variant is not recognized in The Netherlands yet, but this may change in the future.
Gizmo is ex male J from a Persian race. He is lovely and we adore his blue eyes.
Boris is a plain house cat, ex male also. He was seriously ill when we got him. We cared for him and thankfully he recovered. Now he has a happy life with a family in Soesterberg (NL), and spends his time chasing mice and frogs.
We secured the garden, so our animals can go outside without being in danger.
